Many quaint fishing villages are located along the coast. The villages of Gardenstown,Crovie and Pennan, immortalised in the film "Local Hero" are close by. The Baxter Food Company has a visitor centre on the banks of the River Spey at Fochabers. At Aberlour the Walker's shortbread factory also offers a visitors centre.

The cottage is on many of the signposted tourist route and themed trails. These include the Coastal Trail, the Castle Trail and the Whisky Trail. Many distilleries offer conducted tours and tastings. In addition to these attractions the area is renowned for its wildlife, birdwatching, hillwalking and outstanding countryside and coastal views - indeed dolphins have been seen from the cottage.

1	Royal Tarlair Golf Club The North East of Scotland is renowned for its rugged beauty and the course at Royal Tarlair is no exception. Situated in the town of Macduff, the course commands panoramic views of the coastline with the village of Pennan made famous by the film "Local Hero" only a few miles from the clubhouse.
